Welcome to “Culture under the Stars”….. The purpose of this site is to investigate the influence of astronomy on ancient cultures, specifically the Tainos a sub-group of the Arawak people. The site explores how astronomy influenced and/or impacted on the different aspects of their lifestyle and provides evidence while doing so. I hope to be able to reach out to not only possible descendants of these people and learn more about their ancestors and what role the stars played in their lives, legends and tales but also fellow academia and the general public as well.
